Build a web app from scratch with Firebase and Stackblitz's online editor. We'll be using basic HTML and JavaScript to talk to Firebase. This is a great intro to using the Firebase console and integrating Firebase into an app. No extensive prior knowledge or software installations needed.
12pm - 12:30pm
Machine Learning in apps is all about improving the user's experience, whether it is by giving them better choices, handling tedious tasks automatically, or offering entirely new capabilities. With ML Kit you can give your users these smarter experiences without any ML knowledge. This talk will cover how you can leverage ready-to-use Base APIs, create custom models with AutoML, and dynamically deploy those custom models to your end users.
12:30pm - 1pm
Audience engagement is key to content monetization. The media industry is pioneering user experience personalization at scale with engaging apps. These innovators rely on serverless backend and realtime SDKs to get new projects off the ground fast. They also use segmentation and retention tools to take their apps to new heights.
We will walk you through reference architectures of real life media and entertainment applications built with Firebase. Also, we will explain how brands like Le Figaro have used Firebase to add thousands of new users.
To be able to participate in this codelab, bring a laptop with:
- Web browser
- Google account
- git
- npm which typically comes with Node JS - Node v8 is recommended
- Firebase CLI
- IDE/text editor of your choice, such as WebStorm, Atom, VS Code, or Sublime
1:30pm - 3pm
Complete this set of codelabs to understand Cloud Firestore. Explore first hand Cloud Firestore Queries, Security, Transactions and more.
2pm - 2:30pm
Launching an app can be scary. We often hear horror stories about apps launching with major bugs or security vulnerabilities. These problems, although common, are actually preventable. In this talk, we’ll go over some common launch mistakes and how Firebase Test Lab, App Distribution, and Emulator Suite can help you launch your app successfully and with confidence.
2:30pm - 3pm
See how Firebase removes the guesswork from rolling out new features in your app's releases. Learn how our new workflow works with alpha/beta channels & enables large teams to test new features internally & then do a staged rollout with confidence.
3pm - 3:30pm
You've made it. You have a successful app with lots of users, a large team of developers and a whole lot of code. How do you still make sure you can move fast and maintain high quality? Come learn how some of the most sophisticated apps in the world are using Crashlytics (and other Firebase products) to build new features, ship with confidence and maintain the development speed that got them where they are now.
To be able to participate in this codelab, bring a laptop with:
- Web browser
- Google account
3pm - 4:30pm
Embargoed: Learn how to deploy new functionality to your app quickly with pre-packaged solutions. We will use 3 Firebase Extensions to make a web app more fully-featured, with happier users.
3:30pm - 4pm
Initial page load speed is really important for a lot of web apps, but can be tricky when loading a fully featured library like the Firebase Web SDK. Using Firebase Performance Monitoring for the web, we can measure exactly where time is being spent, and where we need to optimize our app.
4:30pm - 5:00pm
Firebase Extensions provide open source pre-packaged solutions for common app tasks like resizing images, sending email, and more. In this session you'll learn what Firebase Extensions are and how you can seamlessly integrate them in your application to reduce development time.

4:30pm - 6pm
Learn how to safely debug and improve your Firebase app using the Firebase Emulator Suite. You will use the Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, and Firebase Hosting emulators together to run your app offline and debug issues in frontend JavaScript, Cloud Functions, and Security Rules.
5pm - 5:30pm
Your users don't live in a world of perfect network connectivity. Connections get dropped, people go into tunnels, and users turn off data roaming. So how can you make sure your Firebase-powered apps give your users a great experience, even when offline? This talk will cover how Firebase works under the hood when it can't connect to the internet, and how you can avoid common pitfalls when your app goes offline.
5:30pm - 6pm
You have an existing app and want to take advantage of Firebase to create rich experiences and get deeper insights to your user's behavior quickly without big changes to your codebase. In this talk we'll go over common problems customers face and how to solve them.
